Express Entry is an electronic application management system process for skilled immigrants to settle in Canada Permanently. Applicants create an online profile and are scored points using the Comprehensive Ranking System. Based on the score the applicant may receive an Invitation to Apply and may gain Permanent Residency if found eligible and admissible by the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under the following sub-classes

Federal Skilled worker (FSW)

This program is for skilled workers with foreign work experience who want to immigrate to Canada permanently. This program has minimum requirements for:

• Skilled Work Experience - minimum of One year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in the past 10 years in a skilled occupation classified under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill level 0, A, B
• Language Ability - Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in English or French across all abilities (reading, writing, listening, and speaking); and
• Education - Canadian educational credential (certificate, diploma, or degree) or foreign credential and Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report.

After Meeting the minimum requirement applicants are assessed on six selection factor – the pass mark of 67 is the current minimum out of 100 for the six selection factors of Education, Language, Experience, Age , Arranged Employment and Adaptability.

Federal Skilled Trade (FST)

This program is for skilled workers who want to become permanent residents based on being qualified in a skilled trade. The applicants must have

• valid job offers of continuous, paid, full-time employment (at least 30 hours a week) from up to two employers in Canada for at least one year OR a certificate of qualification* from a provincial or territorial body;
• provide proof of basic language proficiency from a designated language testing organization, demonstrating that the applicant meets the minimum threshold set by the Minister — Canadian Level Benchmark (CLB) 5 for speaking and listening, CLB 4 for reading and writing;
• have obtained 2 years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work) in the skilled trade in the five years before applying; and
• be able to demonstrate the skills and experience and that they have performed the essential duties of the occupation.

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

is for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and want to become permanent residents. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements. They must:

• Have obtained at least one year of skilled, professional or technical work experience in Canada within 36 months of the application date; and
• Meet or surpass a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 5 for NOC B jobs and CLB 7 for NOC 0 and A; and
• Plan to live and work outside of the province of Quebec

Some Provincial Nominee Programs

The Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) allow Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada and who are interested in settling in that particular province. Most of the Canadian province and territory have their own Provincial Nominee Program. Each PNP has at least one immigration stream that is aligned with the federal Express Entry immigration selection system. Provincial nominations award additional 600 points under CRS in Express Entry Profile.
